CREMATION
Cremation is a process which breaks down the body into its basic components. To do this, the body is placed in a heated chamber. The bone fragments that remain are often referred to as ashes. The remains are placed in an urn or a temporary container so that it can be taken to another location.
The weight of the cremated remains usually weighs three to nine pounds but it can vary depending on the size of the body. It is important to fully understand the procedure because cremation is a final process. To help you make the decision, the funeral directors are trained to answer any questions that may arise. The family may also opt to hold a direct cremation or a viewing with cremation.
BURIAL
Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Services offers various options that people can choose from. One of them is internment wherein the body is placed into a grave. The staff is fully trained to be sensitive to different religions and the service can be modified to suit the needs of the client.
ENTOMBMENT
If the family prefers entombment, Sax-Tiedemann can make arrangements for it. There are available options for above ground burial or placement of the body in a crypt or mausoleum.
DEATH AWAY FROM HOME
Death in itself can be quite an overwhelming experience. It can be magnified if it occurs in a place that is different from the home. To help ease the situation, Sax-Tiedemann can take care of the arrangements that need to be made. If the family prefers out of town services, we will be happy to coordinate the details with other funeral directors for a smoother occasion.
DEATH CERTIFICATE AND CERTIFIED COPIES
A death certificate is a document that contains details such as cause of death, vital statistics, and manner of disposition. It is also a requirement in order to bury or cremate the body. The cost of a death certificate depends on the fees issued by the state.
At your request, Sax-Tiedemann is prepared to obtain the death certificate for you. Requests for certified copies of the death certificate can be made through the funeral director.
SOCIAL SECURITY
Social Security benefits exist because they can help with the financial situation of those who are left behind by the deceased. The current death benefit for the surviving spouse or dependent child is marked at $255. In addition to this, a child who is over 18 but is still in school is qualified to receive the benefits given by Social Security.
