Bernice Talbot

November 4, 1933 — May 19, 2013

Bernice S. Talbot nee Bogacz Beloved wife of the late Gerald A. Talbot. Loving mother of Vickie (Robin) Reierson, Joyce (John) Benefield, Susan Talbot, and James (Cindy) Talbot. Dear mother in law of the late German Manuel. Best Gram, Nana, Grandma in the world of Gerry, John, Christopher, Adam, Gabrielle, Steven, Matthew, Tyler, Luke, Taya, and the late Gina. Bernice's parents, John and Victoria Bogacz and her siblings, Florence (Felix) Maas, Mitchell Bogacz, Adolph (Norma) Bogacz, frederick (Laverne) Bogacz and Jenny (Edward) Surman have all passed before her. Bernice was a fond sister in law of Beatrice (the late Harold) Talbot. She was a cherished aunt of many. Bernice was a faithful wife, devoted mom and an exceptional grandma. And, it is true that love grows best in little spaces. She and Gerry raised their family of 4 in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath home. It is the place where all the birthday, communion, confirmation, graduation and going away parties were held as well as holiday's and other gatherings with many relatives and friends. It is small but the love was overflowing and there was always room for one more guest. They traveled with their children ... always. Road trips were the norm. Never a plane ride. They gave their children that love of "on the road again" travel. Her parents came from Poland in their teens and they became U.S. citizens. As a young girl, Bernice taught them English and she did speak fluent Polish. Bernice was also a caregiver to her mother, brother, sister and in-laws. She gave with compassion, her heart and without complaint. There are many life lessons that Bernice has left us. Lending an ear to hear, truly hear, those who needed to expound on their troubles, celebrations, family and life. Staying silent, when necessary, even if she had a difference of opinion. Giving a hand in service and caring in many ways; at home, in the neighborhood, at church, at the American Legion. Bernice had a smile that was contagious. She believed in God, the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus her Savior and Mary, the Mother of God, and prayer; saying a daily rosary. If you knew Bernice, you were blessed and will certainly feel a void in your life. Bernice was born and raised in Franklin Park, Illinois. She was a member of the Best Grandma's Club, and the Franklin Park American Legion Post #974 Women's Auxillary. She will be missed deeply by her family and her many dear friends.
