Elaine Freitag

Elaine E. Freitag, of Bensenville, formally of Franklin Park, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at the age of 84.
She was born on January 14, 1936 in Oak Park, Illinois, to the late Fritz and Vera Bahns.
Loving wife of LeRoy Freitag for nearly 64 years.
Dearest Sister of the late Dolores Gundlach-Little and Lenore (Henry) Meyer.
Beloved mother of Cindy (Jay) Snyder and Ronald (Dorothy) Freitag.
Proud Grandmother of Jennifer Snyder (Eric Kauffman), Heather (Adam) Petersen, Bradley (Kerri) Snyder, Jason Snyder (Mary NeCastro), Cory Freitag, and Cody Freitag (Urmilla Banerjee).
Dear Great Grandmother of Aubrey and Daniel Petersen and Mikayla Snyder.
Great Step-grandmother of Ashton and Cole Kauffman.
Aunt of Lorene (Ken) Buerger and Great Aunt of Zachary Buerger.

Elaine started working as a secretary at Stewart Warner.  Soon after getting married she became a housewife and mother. She returned to the workforce at Franklin Screw Products and then as a secretary at Hunt the Mover in Bensenville.  Elaine and Lee enjoyed training their St. Bernard dogs and Square Dancing. They loved to travel and camp in their motorhome, even taking their granddaughters with them on many vacations. They traveled all around the U.S. crossing the M-i crooked letter crooked letter – i - crooked letter crooked letter – i – humpback, humpback – i River many times. After retiring, they traveled full time in their motor home spending the summers in Belvidere, IL and the winters in Alamo, Texas, where they made many wonderful friends.
Elaine was a Past Honored Queen of Bethel #31 and Bethel Guardian of Bethel #41, of the International Order of Job’s Daughters.  She was also Treasurer of the Elmhurst Chapter #699 Order of the Eastern Star.

A small family-only memorial service will be held at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home on May 18, 2020.

Elaine will be laid to rest at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois, on May 18, 2020.

A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held in the future.
Our family hopes you will be able to join us at that time to remember her and all the lives that she touched.
