Francis “Steve” Dawson passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
Steve was the beloved son of the late James A. Dawson and the late Marie B. Nielsen.
He was preceded in death by his siblings William “Bill” (Shirley), Tom, Michael, James (Karen), and Julia “Judy,” and is survived by his brothers Martin and John “Jack.”
He was a beloved brother and devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews, each of whom loved him dearly.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Steve served his country with honor and carried that same spirit of service throughout his life.
A man of deep Catholic faith and unwavering kindness, he had an enormous heart and was always willing to help anyone in need.
His gentle nature, compassion, and generosity touched countless lives.
Those who knew Steve could always count on his warm smile, listening ear, and selfless love.
Truly, no kinder person could be found.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Steve on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9568 Belmont Avenue, Franklin Park, Illinois.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Northlake, followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.
Steve’s kindness, faith, and love for others will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
