Frank Robert Rubino
November 15, 1935 – May 20, 2026
God called Frank Robert “Bob” Rubino home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, after a brief illness.
Frank was born on November 15, 1935, in Franklin Park, Illinois, to Salvatore and Elizabeth (Rende) Rubino. Along with his sister, Dorothy, he was raised surrounded by a large and loving extended family, as both of his parents came from close-knit families.
Frank graduated from East Leyden High School, where he participated in football, basketball, and track. It was also there that he met the love of his life, Donna Mae McDonald. Frank and Donna were married on September 1, 1956, and began their life together in France while Frank served in the United States Army. Following his military service, they settled in Schiller Park, Illinois, where they raised their three children: Michael, Robert, and Lisa. The family later made their homes in Glenview and Barrington. This year, Frank and Donna would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Frank began his career at the Chicago Tribune before founding his own business, WR Typesetting, in Chicago. His son, Bob, proudly continues to operate the business today.
Frank will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michael (DeeAnna) Rubino, Robert (Maureen) Rubino, and Lisa (Jeff) Weber; his nine grandchildren; and his sixteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and acquaintances whose lives were enriched by his kindness, generosity, and steady presence.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N Hicks Rd, Palatine, IL 60067. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the service at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Frank’s name may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
