Frederick Paul Neuman Jr. was born September 1, 1949, in Chicago IL. to Fred and Elsie (Horvath) Neuman. Fred passed from this Earth on Jan 23, 2023.
He was married to Kathy (Howard) Neuman his wife of 52 years in September 1970.
Fred was the cherished father to Marcy (Neuman) Wade, Jackie (Neuman) Larsen, Cynthia Neuman and Frederick Paul Neuman III. He was an amazing mentor to his 2 sons in laws James Wade and Eric Larsen, and much loved father in law to Samantha (Bond) Neuman.
Loving oldest brother to Edward (Jill) Neuman, Betty (Neuman) Angel, Thomas (Patricia) Neuman, and John (Lisa) Neuman.
He was the favorite son in law to Jackie L. Howard and Helen (Pahl) Howard, and awesome brother-in-law to Keith Howard, Kevin (Rose) Howard, Bryon (Janet) Howard, Gerald (Julie) Howard.
Beloved Papa to James Wade V, Daniel Wade, Lydia (Wade) Jacinto and Michael Jacinto, Jack Larsen, and Scarlett Neuman.
He graduated East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, where he was on the track team, in 1967.
Fred was drafted into the United States Army in 1969. He attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood.
Fred served in the United States Army as a radio teletype specialist and was stationed in West Germany from 1970-1972. He ended his tour with the U.S. Army as a Sargent.
Fred went on to trade school and became a 3rd generation cement mason with local 502. His 40-year career involved projects in some of Chicago's iconic buildings and bridges, including Wrigley Field, O'Hare and Midway Airports, Chicago Lyric Opera, House of Blues, Comiskey Park, McCormick Place and Trump Towers to name a few.
His retirement in 2012 left him to trade his trowel, to pursue his hobbies of metal detecting, gardening, fishing and being the best Papa to his grandkids.
Fred will be long remembered as a hard worker who took pride in his craft. He was a loyal Chicago teams’ fan, especially the Cubs and Bears. He was someone who can be counted on for all his family and friends of which there were many. He would warm up the car for his girls, happily drive someone to the airport, shovel a side walk or two and not only just to “borrow” the snow for his epic forts.
Fred was one of a kind and if anyone of his kind gestures was a blessing to you...pass it forward in memory of him.
Fred will be greatly missed by his entire family including his many nieces and nephews.
