Fred Nordie Jr., aged 68, passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2025. He is survived by his children, Frederick Nordie and Tina Cavanaugh (Jimmy), as well as his grandchildren, Crystal Zelinske, Aaron, Adam, and Dylan Gruber. He was also a great-grandfather to Jordan Zelinske and Angelo Martinez. Fred is remembered fondly by his siblings: Diane Sroga, Jeanene Fortin, Susan Nordie, Bonnie Kaaina, Scott Nordie (Esperanza), Allison Nordie Wagner, and Denise Marsala (Paul). Additionally, he was a cherished nephew of Jacqueline Gorka Nordie and a special uncle to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Born on March 22, 1957, Fred was the son of June and Fred Nordie and was a twin brother to his sister Bonnie Kaaina, with whom he shared a profound bond throughout their lives. He was raised in Schiller Park, Illinois until 1971 when his family relocated to Blair, Wisconsin, where they resided for five years. Fred graduated from Blair High School in 1975, maintaining connections with relatives and friends from that time throughout his life. Upon returning to Illinois, he purchased a home in Joliet and pursued a career in the printing industry.
Fred was a passionate fan of the NFL, particularly supporting the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox. Known for his exceptional sense of humor, he brought joy and laughter to his family and friends. Fred exemplified kindness and generosity, consistently offering assistance to others regardless of the circumstances, and his quiet strength was an inspiration to those who knew him. His legacy is characterized by love, laughter, and cherished memories, making a positive impact on the lives of many.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Sax Tiedemann Funeral Home, located at 9568 Belmont Avenue, Franklin Park, Illinois.
The funeral service will take place on August 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM, starting from Sax Tiedemann, followed by burial at Edens Memorial Cemetery, situated at 9851 Irving Park Road, Schiller Park, Illinois.
