Janet Aileen Boyer Zabriskie, 84, of Olathe, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in Overland Park, KS.  Janet was the loving wife of the late Kenneth L Zabriskie.  A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home, 9568 Belmont Ave, Franklin Park, IL 6013, from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00pm at Mt Emblem Cemetery, 520 E Grand Ave, Elmhurst, IL 60126.

Janet was born on November 2, 1938, in West Frankfort, IL to Norman Dale Boyer and Helen Cloease (Wilkerson) Boyer, both whom preceded her in death along with her beloved brother, Gerald (Jerry) Lee Boyer.  She graduated from Leyden High School in Franklin Park, IL in 1956, before earning her BS English degree from Kansas University in 1976.  She moved several times throughout her life, living in IL, OK, CO, KS, CT, NY, and GA.  While living in Georgia, she met and married Kenneth L Zabriskie on March 24, 2001, in the LDS Atlanta Georgia temple.

Janet was the loving mother to three daughters and one son. She was a homemaker for many years.  She was adept at teaching her children and grandchildren valuable life lessons through her thoughtfulness and always made them feel valued and loved.  After raising her children, Janet embarked on a career later in life, retiring as an executive secretary at The Royal Bank of Canada in New York City.  Janet was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was stalwart in her faith in Jesus Christ throughout her life.  She served for many years in several capacities in the Atlanta Georgia temple as well as in the Kansas City temple.  Her example of service, strength, and faith was exemplary to her family and friends.  Her legacy of love will live on through her posterity and others.

Janet is survived by her former spouse Charles R Hurmence II and their four children Laura Jean (Hurmence) Hirschi, Linda Lee (Hurmence) Flower, Charles R Hurmence III, and Aileen Joyce (Hurmence) Bogdan.  She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, Kimberly Dawn (Hirschi) Albee, Kristen Marie (Hirschi) Hirsche, Jeffrey Ross Hirschi, Meghan Elizabeth (Hirschi) Nelson, Roger (T.J.) Paul Flower III, Brett Charles Flower, Caitlin Aileen Flower, Madison Elaine Hurmence, Rachel Claire Hurmence, Garrett Charles Hurmence, Samantha Paige Hurmence, Emily Michelle (Bogdan) Forsyth, Timothy Michael Bogdan, Ashley Aileen Bogdan, and Brooke Anne Bogdan. She is survived by seven great-grandchildren.
