Jerry Howard Bray, 87.
Born October 5, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ira and Winifred (Selander) Bray.
Sibling of the late Donald (Marion) and Barbara, both of Texas.
Jerry married Shirley (Anderson) on June 15, 1951, at Mannheim Baptist Church and they remained married for 67 years.
Loving father to his three daughters Barbara Militello of Delavan, Wisconsin, Beverly Bray of River Grove, Illinois, and Lucinda (Frank) Gilbert of Mesa, Arizona.
Beloved Papa to Stephanie Militello of Delavan, Wisconsin, Eric (Andrea) Militello of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Frank Gilbert, Jr. of Mesa, Arizona.
Proud great grandfather of Desiree, Sebastian, Armon, Isabella, and Camilla.
Brother-In-Law to the late David and the late Elaine Mach.
Fond uncle of Donna (Jimmy) Bennett, Priscilla (Ron) Heffield, Debbie (Mark) Nevel, Steven Mach, Heide (Al) Berg, Becky (John) Gray, the late Peter, Joel (Debbie) Mach, Dan (Becky Sue) Mach, and great uncle of many great nieces and nephews.
Jerry joined the army in 1951 where he served as a medic. After his discharge, Jerry went to school to become a carpenter. Jerry worked at East Leyden High School in Franklin Park for 34 years. He became a member of Mannheim Baptist Church in 1949 where he serviced the Lord as a Sunday-school teacher, trustee, and a leader for the young parishioners for 30 years. Jerry was a member of the American Legion for 49 years and a member of IMRF for 56 years.
Jerry spent his lifetime serving the Lord. He enjoyed his time with family, playing afternoon football on Sundays.
When thinking of Jerry, please remember his sense of humor.
Visitation for Jerry will be held Tuesday, October, 2, 2018, from 2:00pm until 9:00pm.
Funeral service will take place Tuesday, October, 2, 2018, at 6:30pm.
Interment private.
