Joan Miller

Joan E. Miller, 74, of St. Joseph, Il passed away at 10:20 p.m. Sunday (April 15, 2018) at home.

Joan was born May 4, 1943, the daughter of Irving and Georgia Vasey Townsend. She married Edwin Miller. He preceded her in death Oct. 8, 2007.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Keith) Cunningham of St. Joseph and Michelle (Bob) Frazier of Des Plains; three grandchildren, Katie of Chicago and Andrea and Ben of St. Joseph; two brothers, Irving Townsend Jr. and Donald Townsend; and sisters, Rozella Edinger, Charlotte Schaid, Louella Bishop and Betty Gregory.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard and Wendell Townsend; and sisters, Marge Stevens, Shirley Nelson and Georgia Brough.

Joan worked at Bed Bath and Beyond in Champaign.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and going out to eat on Sundays. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling.

Joan attended St. John Lutheran Church in Royal.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church, Royal. Pastor Jay Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home, 9568 Belmont Ave., Franklin Park, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Irving Park Cemetery, Chicago.
