It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Lawrence "Lody" Parra, who left this world on September 25, 2025, at the age of 91. Lody was a man imbued with a vibrant spirit and a big personality that remained unyielding even in his final moments. To those fortunate enough to know him, he was not just a figure in their lives but a constant source of laughter, love, and a glittering trail of memories that will echo through the years.
Born on August 10, 1934, Lody lived a life richly woven with the fabric of joy and humor. He was the quintessential jokester, always ready with a quip or a story that would stir laughter among friends and family. His reckless abandon for life, in the most delightful sense, made every gathering an occasion to celebrate, every moment a memory waiting to be crafted. He redefined the meaning of loving, extending warmth not just to his family, but to numerous souls who were drawn to his infectious charisma.
A long-standing ardent supporter of Chicago Cubs baseball, Lody lived and breathed the spirit of his teams, his voice resonating through the stadiums and living rooms alike, cheering on with fervor. He shared this passion with his beloved family, fostering connections and traditions that united them in their quest for victory, creating bonds that would last a lifetime.
Lody was the loving husband of Agnes, a partnership that stood as a pillar of strength and devotion throughout their years together. As a devoted father, he imparted wisdom and laughter to Nick, Ralph, Lucy, Monica, and Abigail, nurturing them with love and guiding them through life’s challenges. His legacy extends further as a cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren, who carry forth his zest for life, and as a valued great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren, infusing their lives with the same heartfelt joy he offered throughout his own.
A visitation to honor Lody’s incredible life will be held on September 30, 2025, at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral and Crematorium in Franklin Park, Illinois, from 10:00 AM until noon. Following the visitation, a Prayer Service will commence at 11:15 AM, allowing family and friends the opportunity to share remembrances and celebrate his vivacious spirit. He will then be laid to rest in the embrace of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside at 12:30 PM, a place where his memory will forever bask in love and reverence.
As we say goodbye to Lawrence "Lody" Parra, we remember a man who embraced life wholeheartedly and cherished every laugh shared. Though he may have departed from this earthly realm, his spirit will live on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the love that remains in the hearts of all who were touched by his boundless affection and exuberance for life.
