She attended preparatory school with plans to be a working woman. She went to work for Western Electric (a telephone company) and was presented with the "Hello Charlie Girl" award. She met Adam her future husband on a blind date, they dated and were married in November 1953. The happy couple settled down in the city and soon the babies came by 1960 the growing family (of 6) was living on the West Side of Chicago. The family continued to grow with three more babies. In 1967 the Family moved to the suburbs into a big old house in Franklin Park, just in time for the record snow fall that winter. As the kids grew Loretta decided to go back into the work force and began work at Badger Air Brush Company (worked there for 25 years). Tragedy struck in 1978 when Adam suddenly passed away. Loretta now a single parent raised young kids and was the head of the household. Loretta did not drive, so she walked around town (with her young children) and took the bus to Goldblatt's. As time went on Loretta filled her life with family, she was very independent. Five years ago Loretta moved from the big old house and into a new place attached to Nancy and Jeff's house. This arrangement provided her with a lot of love, support, and care. It became the gathering place for family and friends to visit Loretta. Loretta was surrounded by love there. Loretta enjoyed baking and had many secret recipes including chicken lattice, kolacki, magic bars, chocolate chip cookies, tostado bake, and lazy golabki (cabbage rolls). Loretta enjoyed vacations with family in Florida, Mexico, California, Michigan, and Wisconsin. She would pick shells, sit in the shade, and enjoy the beaches. An avid Chicago Bulls fan, Loretta was thrilled when the Bulls won six championships and looked forward to all the games. She hosted Bulls game parties and would wear her Bulls gear and cuddle up with the Bulls blanket. She loved the 3-point shots. Holidays were a special time for Loretta, she would begin to prepare many weeks in advance. Loretta would shop for Christmas gifts at church bazaars, catalogs, and Home Shopping Network. The family Christmas party when everyone would gather was a special time for her. She loved to play bingo and the package game An animal lover, Loretta had many animals including dogs, cats, and birds. She also loved the wild animals such as birds and squirrels; she fed them daily. Loretta touched so many people in so many ways, she will be missed. But her life memories and experiences with us will last forever. Love you Always Loretta From Family and Friends In lieu of flowers please donate to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
