Marilyn Golden, a beacon of warmth and compassion, departed this life on January 20, 2026, just shy of her 93rd birthday. Born on January 21, 1933, she was the loving wife to the late Herbert Golden, with whom she shared a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Marilyn was a beloved daughter of the late George and Olga Boyd, whose teachings and values shaped her into the remarkable woman she would become. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, raising her children with the same love she received as a child. Marilyn is survived by her cherished children, Kathy Redlin, Patty Dolar (Mike), the late Jimmy Golden, and Bill Golden, whose lives she enriched with her steadfast presence and nurturing guidance. She was also a proud grandmother to Thomas Redlin, Michael Dolar, and Kelly Dolar, each of whom held a special place in her heart and benefitted from her enduring wisdom and affection.
In addition to her immediate family, Marilyn is remembered as a dear sister to the late Robert and the late Hazel Boyd, whose bonds of kinship were formed through shared memories and unconditional love. She embraced her role as an aunt and friend with joy, leaving a legacy that will be fondly celebrated by many who were fortunate enough to know her.
She devoted her career to public service through her work with the federal government, serving with dedication and integrity throughout her life. She was an active member of the Schiller Park Historical Society and maintained a lifelong interest in politics and civic affairs. Her commitment to service and community reflected her deep respect for history, government, and public life.
A visitation in honor of Marilyn will take place on January 31, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:45 PM, at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral and Crematorium, located at 9568 Belmont Ave, Franklin Park, IL 60131. Following this, a Mass celebrating her life will commence at Holy Virgin Martyrs Catholic Church, 4157 Atlantic Ave, Schiller Park, IL 60176, at 1:15 PM, concluding at 2:15 PM.
In her passing, we cherish those delightful moments filled with her laughter, the warmth of her smile, and the love she generously gave to all. Marilyn Golden’s spirit will forever illuminate our hearts.
