In loving memory of Marta Santiago-Diaz born on October 17, 1952, and entered the gates of eternity with our Lord Jesus Christ September 15, 2020.

Beloved daughter of the late Juan Santiago and the late Justina Mendoza.
Dear mother of Miguel, Iván and Marta. Adoptive mother of so many.
Dear sister, cousin, aunt, and friend of so many.
Grandmother of Justina, Jesenia, Ashley, Natalyah, Janysse, Abigail, Letty, Sury, Aneudy, and Sandyver. Adoptive grandmother to many.
Great-grandmother to Liliana, Alaina, Adriana, Rosalie, Melanie, Abdiel, Brayan, Jasheily, Dyllon, Dion, Natalia, Solei and Asaf.

Marta was an amazing soul who walked this earth with love and respect. Her smile and laughter were contagious. Her passion and love for cooking was one of a kind. Her love for her arts and crafts was unique. She served the City of Chicago for 25 years as a school crossing guard before retiring in June 2016. All of her school children were so loved by her and they all loved her.

We will all truly miss her and will always hold our memories in our hearts.

The wake will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. at 9:00 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. service, at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9568 Belmont Avenue, Franklin Park, Illinois, 60131, 847.678.1950.
En memoria cariñosa de Marta Santiago-Diaz nacida el 17 de octubre de 1952 y entra por las puertas de la eternidad con nuestro señor Jesuscristo el 15 de septiembre de 2020.

Amada hija de Juan Santiago (en el cielo) y Justina Mendoza (en el cielo).
Madre querida de Miguel, Iván y Marta.  Madre adoptiva de tantos.
Querida hermana, prima, tía y amiga de tantos. Abuela de Justina, Jesenia, Ashley, Natalyah, Janysse, Abigail, Letty, Sury, Aneudy y Sandyver. Abuela adoptiva de tantos y bisabuela de Liliana, Alaina, Adriana, Rosalie, Melanie, Abdiel, Brayan, Jasheily, Dyllon, Dion, Natalia, Solei y Asaf.

Marta fue un alma asombrosa que caminó por esta tierra con amor y respeto. Su sonrisa y risa eran contagiosas. Su pasión y amor por la cocina eran únicas. Su amor por sus artes y oficios era único. Ella sirvió en la Ciudad de Chicago durante 25 años como guardia de cruce escolar antes de retirarse en junio de 2016. Todos sus niños de la escuela eran tan amados por ella y todos la amaban.

Todos realmente la extrañaremos y siempre guardaremos nuestros recuerdos en nuestro corazón.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el sábado 19 de septiembre de 2020, de 5:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m., con un servicio a las 6:30 p.m., en Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9568 Belmont Avenue, Franklin Park, Illinois, 60131, 847.678.1950.
