Nancy Jo Ewert

Nancy Jo Ewert, nee Szpila, 88 years old of Deming NM, formerly of Libertyville IL, Passed away peacefully March 11, 2025, at Mesilla Valley Hospice/La Posada in Las Cruces, NM, after a lengthy hospital stay.Loving wife of John for 64 years, Devoted mom to Arnold (Michelle) and Linda (Marc) Pasterz, Adoring Grandma to Grace (Casey Koogler) and Ryan.Preceded in death by her parents Frank and Gertrude, and her brother Bobby.A dedicated nurse, she worked at Columbus Hospital in Chicago, served as the director of nursing for Winchester House in Libertyville, then worked at the VA hospital in North Chicago, IL, in geriatric psych and home health care.Nancy enjoyed rockhounding and wearing the jewelry her husband made for her. She was an avid canasta player and a faithful volunteer for the Luna-Mimbres Museum and Mimbres Memorial Hospital. Nancy enjoyed needlepoint and counted cross stitch, the products of which are prominently featured in her children’s homes and Christmas decorations.Loving and compassionate, patient and kind, she embraced everyone with her warmth. She will be dearly remembered and forever missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am, Friday May 23, 2025, at St. Cyprian Catholic Church At St. Mother Guerin Parish, 2601 Clinton St, River Grove, IL. Procession following to St. Adelbert Catholic Cemetery, 6800 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL
