Olga Sperando

November 16, 1933 — December 6, 2021

Olga Sperando (Marinos)

88 years. Passed away December 6, 2021 in her home. Olga was born in Piraeus, Greece on November 16, 1933. She came to the United States in the summer of 1960.

Olga was married to her second husband, Augustine (Gus) Sperando in October 1983 and were together for 21 years. Olga worked as a factory worker for many companies including Zenith Electronics, Bally Pinball, and later as a seamstress for Madigan's and Margie's Bridal. Olga met Gus when she owned The Golden Age Dry Cleaners in the 1970's in Melrose Park, Illinois. Olga had a thriving business as a seamstress out of her home. She loved to sew and made all her customers feel welcome. She especially loved altering bridal gowns and helping each bride feel special for their special day.

Olga's hobbies were her granddaughters. She would drive them to school and then to gymnastics until they were old enough to drive themselves. Olga was a doting grandmother. She would attend gymnastics meets, school plays and orchestra concerts.

Olga is survived by her daughter Anna (Timothy) Pudlo, granddaughters Alexis (Brent) Jones, and Christina Pudlo; her brother Evangelos 'Angelo' (Nancy) Marinos and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Christos and Sofia (nee Hatsiyiani) Marinos, her three brothers, Vasilis, Ioannis 'John' (Karen) and Emmanuel (Alicia) Marinos and her one sister, Anna (the late George) Chinopulos.

Olga was very proud of her Greek heritage and enjoyed sharing customs and food with anyone willing to listen and try her cooking and baking. So in Greek spirit, "Zoi se mas" meaning "Life to us". May her memory be eternal.
