Pamela Elizabeth Ann Whiteside (nee) Cram, of River Grove, Illinois, passed
away at 1:00pm, Sunday, August 16, 2020, at Alexian Brothers Medical
Center in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. She was surrounded and
comforted by her family.
Pam was the beloved wife, for 56 years, of Edward C. Whiteside, Sr.
Loving mother of Laura Whiteside and Edward Whiteside, II (Marsha).
Proud grandmother of George (35), Ngaire (27), Teagan (17) and
Duncan (14).
Great-grandmother to Aaden (11).
Beloved sister to Bruce Cram (Madeline).
Preceded in death by parents David and Violet (nee) Hamelberg, brother David, and sister Nadine.
Aunt to many.
Pam was active in many organizations throughout her life. She was
always willing to help people and organizations. She started her
lifelong legacy of helping people by working as a lifeguard at Cal
Pool, in Chicago. She was an Honored Queen of Jobs Daughters. She was
a lifelong Girl Scout (known as Krafty) and a leader to several
generations of Girl Scouts as well as a member of the adult Troop 007,
and a Cub Scout Den Mother. Many remember her for volunteering as a
"room mother" and "Picture Lady" at River Grove School for many years
and clubs at East Leyden High School.
In addition to the nickname"Krafty", she was also called "The Captain", "Krafty the Clown", and
she was called "Mom" by dozens of her children's friends.
Pam was a trustee on the board of the River Grove Public Library. She
also helped many people in the time she worked at the Cook County
Health Department.
Pam had a big heart and was always friendly and outgoing, offering a
smile to all.
She will be deeply missed.
Visitation Tuesday, August 18, 2020, 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home, 9568 Belmont Ave., Franklin Park, Il. Masks are required at all times inside the funeral home. There is a thirty person maximum capacity in the chapel to keep proper social distancing.
Pamela will be lying in state at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2624 Oak Street, River Grove on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Masks are required at all time inside the church.
