Rodney Tole, born on March 18, 1934, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. Rodney was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and joy. He was the precious son of the departed Albert and Clyde Tole, and his life was a testament to the virtues he held dear: family, faith, and community.
Rodney was the devoted husband of Katina Tole, a partnership that exemplified love and support for one another through the tests and triumphs of life. Together they created a home filled with warmth and laughter, a haven for their children and grandchildren. He was proud to be the father of Jeffery (Natalie), George (Mary K), Mark (Debbie), Kathy (David), and Mary Ann (Mike), each of whom carry a piece of his gentle spirit within them. As a dearly devoted grandfather to Brandon (Becca), Tabitha (Ben), Tiana (Alex), Katrina (Brian), and Nadia, and a great-grandfather to Zoe, Brooklyn, Ava, Jewel, Bentley, Louella, Sofia, Anthony, Jackson, Vincent, and Mackenzie, Rodney took immense joy in his role, always ready with a story or a smile to brighten their days.
He was more than a family man; Rodney was a proud Army veteran, a dedicated Shriner, and a member of the Freemasons. His commitment to service extended into his community, where he served as an elected official trustee of Schiller Park for two terms and Leyden Township for one term, making a difference in the lives of those around him. Rodney was known for his generosity, especially towards the Shriners Children's Hospital, reflecting his belief in the importance of compassion and kindness to others.
Rodney was a true Southern gentleman, a God-fearing man deeply rooted in his faith and belief in Jesus Christ. His values shaped not only his life but also the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He was pillar of strength, a source of comfort, and the heart of his family.
His death has left a void that will be felt by many, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his beloved family and friends. As we gather to celebrate his life, let us honor the extraordinary man Rodney was, and the love he so freely shared.
