Shirley Paloian

Shirley Paloian (Barr), 91, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026. 
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Shirley lived a life defined by love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.

A dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Shirley found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. 
She was an exceptional cook who delighted in preparing beautiful meals that brought family together around the table. 
Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.

Shirley had a genuine passion for helping others and took great pride in serving as a Resident Ambassador in both assisted living communities where she resided. 
Her kindness, welcoming spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand made a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending afternoons playing cards with friends. 
Above all, Shirley treasured her time on Marco Island, where she loved relaxing in the sunshine with a cup of coffee on the lanai.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Paloian, and her sons, Jim and Michael Barr.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Kim; her grandchildren, Matt (Hilary), Leslie, Jenny (Enrin), and Tony; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Noah, Maya, Mateo, Tobias, Celeste, Giselle, and Emilio.

Shirley will be remembered for her compassionate heart, generous spirit, and the love she poured into her family. 
Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and the enduring memories she created with those who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Funeral services will be held at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church, 6700 W. Diversey Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60707, 
on Friday, July 24, 2026. 
Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. 
A luncheon will be held in the church hall immediately following the service. 
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Shirley's life.
