Claridon "Sonny" Appleby

On September 8, 2021, Claridon "Sonny" Eugene Appleby of Glendale Height, IL, passed away at the age of 93.
Sonny was the dear brother to sister Myrtle of Arkansas and a brother Floyd of Iowa.
A devoted father to daughter Linda, and 2 sons Earl and Phillip.
Cherished grandfather to 7 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren, and a favorite Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Sonny is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Olive Appleby; brother William, and sisters Lou Lou and Mel; and two beloved sons Eugene and James.

Sonny was born August 1928, in Waterloo, IA.
He loved to fish with his father and was very close with his mother and siblings.
Sonny started a family in Waterloo, IA, with his first wife Marie in 1945 and eventually moving to Franklin Park, Illinois.
Sonny was later married to Marlene and Diane and always remained friends with his ex-wives.
Sonny was a truck driver, working at National Lift Truck, Inc from 1957-1998. Lift trucks and mechanics are in the blood lines of the family.
He enjoyed playing cards, watching cowboy movies, especially John Wayne!
He collected die-cast cars and trucks.
Sonny loved to have fun, going to family picnics and reunions, and visiting family for cards games.
He's been called the "Favorite Uncle" by many.
Sonny was a member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Apostles in Melrose Park, IL, and really enjoyed his visits by the Pastor and receiving communion every month.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home at 9568 Belmont Ave, Franklin Park, IL, 60131, from 1pm to 3pm, service begins at 3pm.  There will be no graveside service.
